The animals you chose will then wander around the house on their own, including eating from any filled food dishes you have. The Adoption Agent will then arrive with a pet carrier, which he'll put wherever he can (which might mean he'll block other objects, though he'll place it inside as close to the front door as he can). Select up to three pets you like again, you won't have to pay any fees just yet. (If they can breed, there will be no indicator instead, it will indicate if they are spayed or neutered.) Their Pet Traits are hidden at first. Mousing over any of the pictures reveals their gender, age, and whether they can breed.
You can call to adopt a dog or a cat from your phone although it lists the service cost as §200, you don't have to pay it up front.Īfter calling to adopt, you'll be presented with a pop-up screen of 12 animals of your chosen species. If none of the strays catch your fancy or want a healthier pet, you can call the Sims Animal Shelter from your phone's 'Hire a Service' option.
After installation of the Cats and Dogs Expansion Pack, strays will slowly be adopted among the NPC families, even those that are considered 'Out of World.' You may even want to risk a human Sim's needs and health if you're desperate for a specific stray, as strays tend to get adopted within a few days. You will need to act quickly if you see a stray pet you really want.
